Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive Information

What is the WEEE Directive?
It is a new legislation that applies to all Electronic and Electrical Equipment (EEE) placed onto the market from January 2, 2007.

It has been brought into affect to ensure that end-of-life electrical equipment is recycled in the correct manner to address environmental issues

Phase One's obligations to the WEEE
With your help, we can ensure that all WEEE items disposed of by customers are dealt with in a way that conforms to European legislation.

What do we have to do?
When you purchase, for example, a new Mixer from Phase One and it is to replace an old Mixer which you have no further use for, you can return the waste electrical equipment to us at Phase One instead of putting it in the bin, as this will ensure that it will be dealt with in an environmentally responsible manner.

If you purchase products from our store, simply bring your WEEE like-for-like item along with you when purchasing your goods.

If you purchase products online, send your WEEE item to the address on our website letting us know that it is for disposal, with a copy of your receipt for the new item.

Please note that we can only accept like for like items

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Recycling reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Customers must return their like-for-like WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled
