Soundtrack To Summer 2015
With summer fast approaching and the hopeful turnaround of weather, here at Phase One we have put together a compilation of songs that we think are going to be massive in the approaching season. Whether you think our choices will be ideal to create a remix or just a feel good anthem, it’s up to you. We think you’ll be hearing a few, if not all of these songs all over this summer, from being on the radio to being played at every holiday destination.
Felix Jaehn & Jasmine Thompson – Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better)
An incredibly bouncy and catchy track, and a great reworking of the 1983 world wide Chaka Khan hit of the same name. Felix Jaehn puts in a real feel good vibe twist and with Jasmine Thompson providing excellent vocals, expect to hear it everywhere from Ibiza to your local nightclub.
Chemical Brothers Feat. Q-Tip – Go
Masters of modern synth and electronic music, the Chemical Brothers are responsible for some of the decade’s biggest and catchiest hits, ‘Galvanzie’ and ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ to name a couple. Taken from their soon to be released 8th studio album, this powerhouse of an electro song is bound to have everyone jumping this summer at festivals and clubs alike.
Years and Years – Shine
A real relaxed laid back summer song which we think would be ideal to remix or as a stand-alone song. It’s the Second single that’s been in the limelight for up and coming house/dance act Years & Years, with the first being ‘King’ which was released to a incredible reception earlier this year. It may not have had the same radio hype so far as their previous hit, but we’re still predicting big things this summer for this song.
Blonde Feat. Alex Newell – All Cried Out
Upbeat upcoming house anthem with a little bit of an R&B twist, thanks to vocals from Alex Newell. Released back in March, this Blonde song is bound to stick around for the summer season thanks to the incredible soaring popularity of house and deep house music over the past couple of years. Blonde has been on the scene for nearly a year now and is quickly emerging as a prominent face in house music.
Major Lazer & DJ Snake Feat. MØ – Lean On
Super producer, who has worked with just about every popular musician on the planet at the moment, released this incredible song back in March with his ‘music troop’ – Major Lazer. As the song is already prominent in every corner of the globe at the moment (and if it isn’t it should be) ‘Lean On’ is only going to go from strength to strength as a great party song. If you ever get the chance to see Major Lazer live we highly recommend you grab that chance! Also check out ‘Get Free’ feat Amber for another one of Major Lazer’s exceptionally feel good bouncy songs.
Maverick Sabre – Walk Into The Sun
Another incredible feel-good song, with a great summer vibe. It’s Maverick Sabre’s smooth tones and the bouncy back beat that makes this song great, especially for relaxing in the sun. Due for release in the height of summer, in our opinion it would make for a great remix to get the track even more pumped up.
Hot Chip – Need You Know
Hot Chip are back with a different sound, a perfect mix of dance and relax. ‘Need You Know’ is a great sunsetter song when you’re chilling round the pool, getting ready to party or to just put you in a great mood. Previously famous for such hits including ‘Ready For The Floor’ and ‘Over & Over’ the band are doing the festival rounds this season with their sixth studio album ‘ Why Make Sense?’
Jack Ü Feat. Justin Bieber – Where Are Ü Now?
Always a risk putting Justin Bieber in any list, but it’s the fact that Super DJ-Duo Jack Ü, the combined geniuses of Skrillex and Diplo, is more than any reason for them to make our list. Masters of their crafts, this song is bound to be incredibly popular, only increasing over the summer months. This is down to the chilled out backing track, which makes it incredibly easy to dance along to. The perfect choice for creating a chilled out atmosphere.
Alesso Feat. Roy English – Cool
Juggernaut Swedish DJ Alesso has been one of the world’s top DJ’s for a few years now, ranking 15th best in the world last year in DJ Magazines ‘Top 100’. This is already an instantly recognisable song, as it’s been pretty much everywhere since its release at the back end of February. With it’s rising popularity and Alesso’s debut album due out in summer we’re confident this song will make a massive appearance over the European holiday scene this summer.
Gorgon City Feat. Katy Menditta – Imagination
Not the newest of songs, since it was released back end of 2014, but thanks to a resurge in plays on BBC Radio 1, it appears to becoming much more popular again. One of the best house music songs around at the moment which will no doubt stick around for the next few months, especially in European holiday destinations. One of the follow ups from Gorgon City’s incredibly huge hit ‘Ready For Your Love’, this song may not reach the dizzying chart heights but will be a firm favourite for good dance music.
